VISION:
Northern New Mexico College will partner with an entity to develop a natural foods market that is a popular destination for locals and tourists. The market will reflect the rich history and spirit of the upper Rio Grande Valley, the diversity of the region, and the freshness of local market produce while optimizing regional agro-industrial capabilities. The market will embrace the local agriculture and educational community and utilize its resources to the fullest, will provide locally grown healthy foods, and work with College capacity in these areas not limited to food, environmental and biological sciences, Allied Health, and business administration. The business structure of the market is committed to being a steward of health and wellness in our community by providing nutritional products, educational initiatives, and jobs that foster agriculturally based economic development in northern New Mexico. The market will be located in an environment that fosters these values and is developed within integrated systems methodologies such as Zero Emission Research and Initiatives (ZERI) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building standards for sustainable community economic growth and energy efficiency.
